Since 16 July 2020, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health started withholding data regarding the new Covid19 positive cases in Kuwait regarding their nationalities and living areas, and that approach continues what the ministry started to do since 4 May 2020 when it’s declined to mention any data related to some of Covid19 positive new cases, whether in terms of the type of infection if it was in contact or under epidemiological investigation of unknown source as well as the nationalities, in addition to its withhold to provide data of deaths which were previously provided such as nationality, age, gender, and time spent in the intensive care, and continued on 17 June 2020 by withholding data regarding the non-Kuwaitis nationalities new cases.

Social Watcher team had previously alerted the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health’s decision to withhold information regarding the size of the virus outbreak and its daily growth rate for the public and those interested, in light of the rising numbers specially after the Omicron spread, and the team renews the alert today after recording 601,307 cases, 548,206 of them 91.1% and 2,480 deaths 98.4% out of 2,520 without any data.

Social Watcher team indicates that the Kuwaiti Ministry continuation in this approach will increase the total number of unknown cases, and at some point, it passed more than 90% of the cases, which will affect the credibility of the ministry and the transparency of its handling of this matter. (you can see the rate of increasing number of cases on this link).
